GEARCASES

LUBRICATION

REAR DIFFERENTIAL LUBRICATION

The rear differential lubricant level should be checked and

changed in accordance with the maintenance schedule.

Be sure vehicle is level before proceeding.

•

Check vent hose to be sure it is routed properly and

•

unobstructed.

THE DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL

Changing the differential gear oil:

Place the vehicle on a level surface.

Place a container under the differential/final gear case

to collect the used oil.
Remove the oil filler bolt and the drain bolt to drain the

oil.
Install the drain bolt, and then tighten it to the specified

torque.
Add the recommended differential gear oil up to the

brim of the filler hole.
Install the oil filler bolt, and then tighten it to the

specified torque.
Check for oil leakage. If oil leakage is found, check for

the cause.
