Shift the gear into forward (F) to set shift rod to upper
position.

Remove spring pin and disconnect shift rod.

Remove lower unit installation bolts, and pull lower unit
ass'y downward to remove.
· Disconnect shift rod at upper side of shift rod

to remove spring pin.
· Do not reuse removed spring pin.

Hold lower unit while removing it to prevent it
dropping on the floor.

Disconnect speedometer pipe

from the nipple before
separating lower unit from the driveshaft housing.
