Replacing of brake shoes
Note:
if the residual line thickness is less than
3 mm
or if the brake linings
are defective and the necessary deceleration cannot be reached, the brake
linings shall be replaced.
Attention:
before you start working secure counterweight and car against
uncontrolled movement. Disconnect power supply. The torque shall not act
on the traction sheave.
1.) Dismounting the brake shoes:
•
Unscrew pressure spring screw on brake shoe until the brake shoe is
movable freely. Remove locking ring on brake shoe pin.
•
Remove brake shoe and re-mount the adjusting screws for brake magnet
and test switch operation on the new brake shoe in such a way that the
distance is about the same as before.
•
Mount new brake shoe on machine.
•
Bed in lining until contact surface between brake shoe and brake disk
is 75%.
•
Check that brake lining and brake disk surface are in line laterally. In the
case of mismatch dismount brake shoes, re-arrange spacers on brake
shoe bearing and bring brake linings and brake disk centre in line. (disk
thickness = 1 mm).
•
Screw pressure spring to brake shoe by means of screw until brake lining
sits close on brake disk.
Attention
: the test switch screw shall not or only slightly contact the switch
contact since otherwise there is the risk that the switch will be damaged.
2.) Adjusting the brake shoe stroke:
The clearance between brake disk and brake lining shall be
0.3 mm
if the
magnet is operated.
•
Adjust stroke in accordance with description in chapter 7.2.
•
Replace and adjust second brake shoe in the same way.
•
Secure adjustments by tightening the lock nut.
3.) Adjusting the braking deceleration
For adjustment of deceleration see description in chapter 7.3.
4.) Adjusting the brake test switch
For adjusting the brake test switches on the brake shoes see description
in chapter 7.4.
5.) Check adjustment of replaced brake shoes
•
Replace brake shoes, run car under emergency electrical operation and
check whether both brake shoes are disengaged uniformly.
Attention:
Check brake stroke, braking deceleration, adjustment and
functioning of test switches and re-adjust, if necessary, every time you
replace brake shoes.
