Tuning the ISQ
Tuning will improve the performance of your ISQ mass spectrometer. For optimum stability,
you should start tuning after the lights on the front of the instrument are a solid green. These
lights indicate that the instrument has reached vacuum and that it is at the last set
temperature. If the system has been powered off for a period of time (a cold system), it takes
longer (up to 4 hours) for the instrument components to reach stabile vacuum and
temperature. If you did not vent the ISQ instrument (system is hot), it takes approximately 30
minutes for the components to reach vacuum and temperature.
IMPORTANT
Be sure to give the ISQ instrument enough time to stabilize. Otherwise, you
may see mass drift, mass spectral changes, or changes in the fragmentation of your data.
