PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
(Garmin ADC)

General
A.
This section gives the maintenance practices for the cleaning of the pitot-static systems. The Model
525B has three separate and independent pitot-static systems, the pilot (left), copilot (right) and
standby. For more information about the system, refer to Pitot-Static System - Description and
Operation.

Tools and Equipment
A.
For a list of the necessary tools and equipment, refer to Navigation - General.
3.
Pitot and Static Systems Purging
A.
Clean the Pitot and Static Systems.
(1)
Make sure that external electrical power is removed from the airplane.
(2)
Make sure that the BATTERY switch is in the OFF position.
(3)
On Airplanes -0451 thru -0664, remove the Electronic Standby ESI-1000 Indicator (SFD). Refer
to L-3 Communications Electronic Standby Indicator - Removal/Installation.
(4)
On Airplanes -0057 and -0665 and On, remove the EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display (EFD).
Refer to EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display - Removal/Installation.
CAUTION:
Apply high pressure air at the disconnected instrument hose
connection and clean the system from the instrument connection
outward.
CAUTION:
Make sure the pitot and static lines are removed from the standby
flight display. If all lines are not removed this can cause damage to
the indicator.
(5)
Get access to the Garmin ADC 1 and ADC 2. Refer to Garmin GDC 7400 Air Data Computer -
Removal/Installation.
(a)
Remove the pitot and static tubing connector fittings from the applicable ADC(s).
(6)
Get access to the pitot probes pitot tubing. Refer to Pitot Tube - Removal/Installation.

Remove the pitot tubing from the applicable pitot probe(s).
(7)
Get access to the static ports. Refer to Static Port - Removal/Installation.
(a)
Remove the static tubing from the applicable static port(s).
(8)
Put a cap on the pitot or static line that is not being cleaned.
(9)
Connect a clean dry air source to the pitot system and/or static system at the instrument panel
connection.
(a)
Clean the tubes with dry air.
(10) Clean each line to the instrument individually, make sure the caps are installed on the lines not
cleaned.
(11) On Airplanes -0451 thru -0664, install the Electronic Standby ESI-1000 Indicator (SFD). Refer
to L-3 Communications Electronic Standby Indicator - Removal/Installation.
(12) On Airplanes -0057 and -0665 and On, install the EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display (EFD). Refer
to EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display - Removal/Installation.
(13) As necessary, connect pitot and static tubing to the ADC(s).
(14) As necessary, connect pitot tubing to the pitot tube(s).
(15) As necessary, connect static tubing to the static port(s).
(16) Do a leak test of the cleaned pitot-static system. Refer to Pitot and Static System - Inspection/
Check, Pitot and Static Systems Leak Test.
