Configure the airplane as follows:
(a)
Put the control column full forward.
(b)
Use the elevator trim wheel, on the control pedestal, to put the elevator trim at zero
degrees.
(c)
With each engine and generator on, move the airplane to a heading of magnetic north (0.0
degrees, +5.0 or -5.0 degrees) and stop the airplane.
(6)
On the right switch panel, put all external lighting switches in the OFF position.
(7)
On GTC, navigate to the Exterior Lights page and push the applicable Off buttons to put exterior
lights to off.
(8)
Put the PITOT STATIC HEAT 1 and the PITOT STATIC HEAT 2 switches to the OFF position.
(9)
Put the L WING/ENG and the R WING/ENG switches to the OFF position.
(10) Put the Anti-Ice switch in the off position.
(a)
For the bleed air anti-ice, turn the LEFT and the RIGHT BLEED AIR rotary knobs to the
OFF detent position.
(11) Set the STBY DISPLAY switch to the ON position.
(12) Push and hold the standby knob on the EFD-750 and set the STBY FLT DISPLAY switch in the
ON position.
(a)
Continue to hold the standby knob until the standby has started the alignment process.
(13) Push the MENU softkey on the EFD-750 and select the System Install item.
(14) When the "Enter Maintenance Mode?" message shows on the EFD-750, push the standby knob
to accept it.
NOTE:
The unit automatically cycles power and, after reboot, enters the Maintenance
(Setup) Mode as shown on the top of the screen.
(15) Select the MAG Swing menu item on the EFD-750 to open the screen. Refer to Figure 503.
(16) With the aircraft in position (on any heading) and stopped, push the standby knob on the EFD-
750 to start the MAG Swing.

Make sure that a “Wait” message on the EFD-750 is shown at the top of the screen and
an “Aligning” message is shown below it. Refer to Figure 504.
NOTE:
The bar to the right of the "Aligning" message shows the alignment progress.
(17) When the Wait” message on the EFD-750 is replaced with "360°", swing the airplane
counterclockwise in a full 360° turn.

Make sure that the “Aligning” message on the EFD-750 is replaced by a “Swinging”
message.
NOTE:
The bar to the right of the “Swinging” message shows the swing progress. Refer
to Figure 505.
NOTE:
During the swing procedure, monitor the turn rate bar. The pointer (white triangle)
must not enter the red area of the bar.
NOTE:
If the pace of the swing is too fast (>9°/sec), a "Failed" message is shown at the top
of the screen and cause a short "Overrate" message followed by the removal of the
"Swinging" message and progress bar.
NOTE:
If the time to complete the swing is more than 5 minutes, a “failed” message is shown
at the top of the screen, and the “Swinging” message and progress bar will go off.
NOTE:
If a problem with the magnetometer data is found during the swing procedure, a
“Failed” message is shown at the top of the screen. If this occurs, start the swing
again.
