L3HARRIS ELECTRONIC FLIGHT DISPLAY SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1.
General
A.
This section gives a description and the operation of the L3Harris Electronic Flight Display System
(EFDS). The line replaceable units (LRU)'s in the EFDS are the EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display
(EFD), DCM-750 Configuration Module, and MAG-500 Magnetometer.
B.
Refer to Figure 1 for a general view of the EFDS.

Description
A.
L3Harris EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display (EFD)
(1)
The EFD-750 is a 3.5 inch Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) self-contained
situational awareness instrument that supplies airplane attitude, airspeed, altitude, heading,
and slip indications. Software updates and configuration data is loaded with a microSD card
that installs in a slot on the front bezel of the EFD-750.
B.
DCM-750 Configuration Module
(1)
The DCM-750 configuration module is installed in the electrical connector that connects to the
EFD-750. The configuration module stores airplane specific configuration data that will stay with
the airplane if the EFD-750 is replaced with a new one.
C.
MAG-500 Magnetometer
(1)
The magnetometer is installed between the mid and aft spars in the right wing at WS 293.034.
(2)
The magnetometer is a three-axis magnetic sensor that converts magnetic field data into a digital
format then transmitted to the EFD-750 via RS-485 to provide a display of heading. Power and
ground are supplied from the EFD-750.
3.
Operation
A.
Operation of the EFD-750 is performed via the MENU button and push-button knob mounted on the
display front bezel. The EFD-750 is powered by the standby battery pack for emergency operation
which is supplied from the right generator bus. The EFD-750 then supplies power to the MAG-500
Magnetometer. Normal operation of the EFD-750 Electronic Flight Display system provides attitude
(pitch and roll), slip indications, barometric corrected altitude, indicated airspeed, airspeed awareness
cues, and heading. The EFD-750 can be configured to indicate in metric units. Standby heading
information is also available via a centrally mounted whiskey compass.
