6.2.3
Donation cycle
This chapter will explain a complete donation cycle. It is assumed that all settings are
set to their default values.
The most simple donation process is described, as it will also run on T-RAC II Junior.
On T-RAC II Ethernet / Wifi, events give a lot more flexibility (e.g. scanning barcodes)
and are explained in chapter 6.2.4 and 7.2.2.
During the cycle, various (error) messages or alarms may be shown. These are
summarized in chapter 8 .
1. Start of donation cycle
The donation cycle can be started from the idle screen by putting the blood bag system
in the tray. Make sure that the primary blood bag (the one in which blood will be
collected) lies on top of the other bags.
T-RAC II will detect the bag and proceeds automatically to the next step. Otherwise,
‘next’ can be
pressed.
[WARNING] When placing the bag system, make sure that the system is inside the
tray and does not touch any other part of the T-RAC II.
2. Tube insertion in the clamp
Insert the donor tube into the clamp. Make sure that the tube is pushed well against
the back of the clamp. Push the clamp backwards and then release it
or press ‘L
OCK
’
on the touch screen. The clamp will go to the ‘locked’ state. For more information
about the clamp, see chapter 5.2.
[WARNING] At the moment of locking the clamp:
•
Make sure that the tube is inserted completely to the back of the clamp.
•
Make sure that the tube is not bent. It needs to be straight.
[WARNING] After locking the clamp, always make sure that the tube is correctly locked
inside the clamp. It must be possible to move the tube from left to right and it must
be impossible to take the tube out of the clamp. If the tube is stuck in any way:
1.
Open the clamp by pressing ‘Open clamp’ and ‘Yes’.
2.
Insert the tube correctly.
3.
Lock the clamp again.
4.
Recheck that the tube is correctly locked.
