Operating principles and functions
T-RAC II (Terumo Recording and Automatic Collector) is designed to collect blood in different
types and brands of blood bag systems. During donation, it shakes the blood bags in order
to mix the blood with anti-coagulant. At the same time, the weight of the collected blood is
measured. At the end of the donation, the clamp closes to stop the blood flow. T-RAC II
shows detailed information about the donation on the screen and activates alarms in case of
problems.
T-RAC II features a data-acquisition system. A barcode reader allows the operator to collect
more information about the donation. This data can be transferred to a central computer
system called TOMEs over a network or by using the USB flash drive. TOMEs can also be
connected to a blood bank management system and makes it possible to set device or
donation parameters on T-RAC II devices.
