TDS5000 Series User Manual
Triggering from the Front Panel
The front panel provides quick access to the most frequently used trigger
controls. The trigger readout shows you the state of the trigger system.
The SLOPE, COUPLING, and SOURCE controls only work for edge triggering.
To access the advanced trigger controls, open the Trigger Setup control window
by pushing the ADVANCED button (See
Advanced Triggering
on page 3--62 for
more information).
Use this procedure to set up triggers using the front-panel controls.

Prerequisites 1.
Set the acquisition system to RUN (the RUN/STOP
control is lighted), and set the vertical and horizontal
controls appropriately for the signal to be acquired.
See page 3--21 for acquisition setup
Select the
trigger type

Push the EDGE button to select edge triggering, or push
ADVANCED to open the Trigger Setup control window
to set up other trigger types.
Select the
trigger slope

Push the SLOPE button to toggle between POS and
NEG:
H
POS triggers on a rising edge (positive-going)
signal
H
NEG triggers on a falling edge (negative-going)
signal
You can also set the slope in the Trigger Setup control
window.
