Measuring Rise Time
Rise time is the time taken by the leading edge of a pulse to
rise from 10% to 90% of its peak-to-peak amplitude.
You can measure the rise time of a pulse by using the
CURSOR
menu. In the following procedure, you manually
measure the rise time of a pulse between 10% and 90% of
the pulse amplitude by using time cursors.
This procedure assumes that the oscilloscope retains the
settings from the previous procedure.
To measure the rise time of a pulse, follow these steps:
1. In the VERTICAL section, turn the
CH1
VOLTS/DIV
knob clockwise to set
CH1
to
1.00V
.
2. Turn
the
CH1
POSITION
knob to position the waveform
at the center of the display.
3. In the HORIZONTAL section, turn the
SEC/DIV
knob
clockwise to set the time base to
M 5.00ns
on the
display.
