The optimum speed may vary with different applications.
Check the filter is venting by unscrewing the water drain. Leave a small amount of
air escaping at all times, this will keep the filter clear of water.
5.3.2
Starting the machine - Facing and Grooving
1. Remove the base assembly setting plates.
2. Set up the tool, as per Section 5.2.8.
3. Select the cutting feed on the cutting feed rate selector, as per Section 4.1.1.
4. Make sure the traverse directional selector is set to neutral 'N', as per Section
4.1.1.
5. Using a suitable hand tool, slowly rotate the leadscrew to position the tool away
from the cutting area.
6. Set depth of cut on the toolpost feed knob.
7. Engage the traverse directional indicator to the required position.
THE MACHINE HAS DANGEROUS MOVING PARTS WHEN OPERATED, KEEP
WELL CLEAR.
SHOULD THE AIR SUPPLY FAIL FOR ANY REASON, THE OPERATOR MUST
SHUT THE AIR CONTROL VALVE SO THAT IT LOCKS IN THE CLOSED
POSITION UNTIL THE AIR SUPPLY HAS BEEN RESTORED.
8. Start the machine by slowly opening the air supply, refer to Section 5.3.1.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS WHILE THE MACHINE IS
OPERATING. ALWAYS STOP THE MACHINE FIRST.
If the cutting feed or direction of the machine is to be changed, the machine must
be stopped and the appropriate feed/direction selected. The machine can then be
restarted.
Now the machine is ready to use, the operator can adjust any one of the following
variables:
a. depth of cut
b. tool profile
c. manual or automatic traverse
d. rate and direction of feed
