1. Observe all Warnings and Cautions, refer to Sections 3 and 5.1.
2. Measure the bore of the flange to be machined. Select the base assembly and
the 4 off adjustable jaw rambolts and 4 off fixed jaw rambolts to suit the
appropriate size of flange (see table in Section 1.2.3). Always select the largest
base possible to suit the flange bore.
On smaller
internal bores, when using the 14” base assembly with the short
rambolts. Use the ‘C’-spanner supplied in the toolkit to enable the jaw block
assembly to be screwed fully into the bore.
3. If using the adjustable jaw blocks use an 8mm A/F Allen key to set the jaw plate
on each adjustable jaw to the mid-point of its travel. Position a thrust washer
onto each rambolt, ensuring that the curved surface faces towards the rambolt.
Fit a jaw to each ram bolt and secure with the 2 cup-point socket set screws. Do
not over tighten as the jaw blocks must pivot freely.
4. Attach the required extension pieces to each rambolt, before screwing fully into
the base and position at an approximate diameter to suit the bore. Note:
position the adjustable jaws alternately to the fixed jaws.
5. Position the setting straps (4 off) on the base assembly with the boss against
the base.
6. Carefully position the base assembly within the flange bore ensuring that the
jaw plates are in full contact with the bore surface. As the base is being
centralised it should be gradually secured within the bore. Fully tighten the
adjustable jaws to lock the assembly within the bore. Do not remove the setting
straps.
