TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
Remove and Install
6. Disconnect the wiring from the motor.
7. Disconnect the hydraulic brake lines from the left
and right brake bodies.
1. Make sure the key-switch is in the “OFF”
position, then remove the key.
2. Place the forward-reverse switch in the
center “OFF” position.
3. Confirm the electric park brake is applied.
4. Place blocks under the front wheels to
prevent vehicle movement.
5. Disconnect the main positive and negative
cables at the batteries.
Always use a lifting strap, hoist, and jack
stands, of adequate capacity to lift and
support the vehicle. Failure to use lifting
and support devices of rated load capacity
may result in severe bodily injury.
DO NOT raise only the 2 rear wheels off of
the ground.
On a 3-wheel vehicle, when raising more than
one wheel off of the ground, a vehicle lift
system capable of raising the entire vehicle
must be used. Raising only the 2-rear wheels
will result in instabilty of the raised vehicle
and may result in severe bodily injury or
property damage.
9. Raise the vehicle just high enough so that there is
no tension on the spring hanger bolts. Do not
remove the bolts at this time.
10. Remove the eight bolts holding the springs to the
axle tubes.
11. Remove the two lower spring hanger bolts and
raise the vehicle high enough to remove the drive
and support the frame with jack stands.
12. Install the transmission assembly in reverse order
of removal.
a. Bleed the brake system. Refer to section
Brake
Service
for information regarding bleeding the
brakes.
13. Reconnect the main positive and negative cables
at the batteries.
14. Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
15. Test drive the vehicle.
8. Remove the nuts from the left and right side lower
spring hangers. DO NOT remove the bolts at this
time.
