14 – Timecode synchronization
In this chapter, we explain the use of timecode
synchronization.
This unit’s playback and recording can be synchronized
with SMPTE timecode input through the TIMECODE INPUT
connector on the rear panel or the internal timecode
generator (“master timecode” hereafter).
Time code synchronization differs according to the operation
mode.
Playback synchronized with
timecode
Timeline mode
In timeline mode, playback can be synchronized with
master timecode.
When set to do so, playback synchronizes with master
timecode when it starts.
Take mode
Timecode synchronized playback is not supported in this
mode.
Playlist mode
Timecode synchronized playback is not supported in this
mode.
On-air mode
Timecode synchronized playback is not supported in this
mode.
Recording synchronized with
timecode
Timeline mode
Recording can be synchronized with master timecode in
timeline mode.
When recording with timecode synchronization, master
timecode is captured the instant that recording starts, and
recording starts on the timeline from that timecode time.
Take mode
Recording cannot be synchronized with master timecode
in this mode.
However, the timecode from the internal timecode
generator is captured at the beginning of recording as the
file starting time.
Playlist mode
In playlist mode, recording is not possible regardless of
the timecode synchronization status.
On-air mode
In on-air mode, recording is not possible regardless of the
timecode synchronization status.
