Chapter 7: Multistream Operation

Re-Zeroing
: The Analyzer will re-zero itself after every 10 samples. When the Analyzer
completes analysis on one stream, it will re-zero itself only after advancing to the next available
stream.
•
Flush Time
: Each time the Analyzer advances to the next available stream, it will automatically
flush the sample line for that stream to remove any stagnant water. The flush time for all
streams is defined by one setting that applies to all streams. The flush time is customizable and
should be set based on the longest run of tubing from sample point to Analyzer. To estimate the
appropriate flush time, set the Analyzer to flush 1 minute for each 20 feet of sample tubing
associated with the longest run of tubing.
Monitoring a Rapidly Changing Boron Level
To more closely monitor a sample source with rapidly changing boron levels, three options are useful:
• Disabling the other streams using the Stream Setup options will result in the Analyzer only
monitoring the stream of interest.
• Increasing the number of samples defined for the stream that is rapidly changing will provide
more analysis time on that stream relative to the others. Decreasing the number of samples
defined for all other streams will further concentrate analysis time on the rapidly changing
stream.
• Using the binary inputs to 'enable' or 'disable' streams will allow the Analyzer to be used
exclusively on a stream of interest.
Monitoring a Very Low Boron Level
To more closely monitor a sample source with boron levels near the Analyzer's limit of detection, it may be
helpful to use “Averaged” mode on the Analyzer for that stream. It is common for polish loop product to
contain boron at concentrations below this level. The “Averaged” mode on the Analyzer will produce one
numerical result that is the average of 5 sequential analyses. This dampens the fluctuations in the data that
are expected when operating near the limit of detection. Since the Analyzer is programmed to perform
10 analyses prior to re-zeroing itself, the “Averaged” mode will produce 2 numerical results from these
10 analyses between zeroing sequences.
