Chapter 6: Setting Up Inputs and Outputs
4. Highlight
ANALOG OUTPUTS
and press
ENTER
to set up each of the four available analog
outputs with one of seven choices. Analog outputs must be configured prior to running the
Analyzer.
5. Press
EDIT
to access the output settings for the analog output indicated (press
NEXT
to scroll
through the analog outputs).
6. Use the
UP
and
DOWN
arrow keys to scroll through the settings.
• The
NO OUTPUT
setting will disable the selected analog output.
• The
CALIBRATE
setting will allow you to calibrate the 4-mA and the 20-mA analog signals and
requires a multimeter to be connected to the analog output selected.
• The 4-mA and 20-mA analog signals are calibrated at the factory and should not have to be
calibrated upon initial installation.
• The
LOW OUTPUT
setting will set the analog signal to a constant value of 4 mA.
7. The default setting for the analog output is
NO OUTPUT
. If this is the desired setting, press
NEXT
to return to the previous menu.
To calibrate the analog signals:
1.
Scroll to
CALIBRATE
and press
NEXT
. The digital to analog setting associated with the 4-mA
signal is highlighted to show that it can be edited.
2. Connect a multimeter to the analog output that is to be calibrated to determine the correct digital to
analog setting.
3. Press
SET
to activate the 4 mA analog signal. The signal should produce a reading of 4 mA on the
multimeter.
• If the signal does not produce a 4 mA reading on the multimeter, press either the
UP
and
DOWN
arrow keys to adjust the 4 mA digital to analog setting and then press
SET
. Repeat this
process until the multimeter reads 4 mA.
When the 4 mA signal is calibrated, press
NEXT
to edit the 20 mA signal. Repeat the above process until
the multimeter reads 20 mA for this signal. When calibration of both signals is complete, press
NEXT
to
save the digital-to-analog settings and return to the previous menu. Disconnect the multimeter from the
analog output.
To select the settings for a
BORON STREAM
, scroll to
BORON STREAM X
and press
NEXT
. The digital-
to-analog setting associated with the 4 mA signal is highlighted to show that it can be edited. Using the
UP
and
DOWN
arrow keys, enter the boron level that will correspond to the 4 mA output, and press
NEXT
. The
Note:
Holding the
UP
or
DOWN
arrow key will change the digital-to-analog setting by
ten instead of one.
Note:
Pressing
EXIT
instead of
NEXT
will exit the Analog Output Calibration menu
without saving any changes to the 4 mA and 20 mA digital-to-analog settings.
