Chapter 1. Introduction
SUEZ strongly recommends that ALL USERS read the Warnings section prior to installing and operating
the Sievers Ultrapure Water (UPW) Boron Analyzer.
SUEZ strongly recommends that only a trained and qualified technician perform installation, setup,
maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the unit.
The chapters of this manual are organized to guide users through the various activities needed to install,
operate, and maintain the Sievers Ultrapure Water (UPW) Boron Analyzer. First-time users can follow the
chapters sequentially to unpack, install, configure, and operate the instrument. Instructions are included to
assist the user in successfully customizing an initial configuration to better meet the unique application
needs of the specific site or facility.
What follows is a brief overview of each chapter:
CHAPTER 2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION covers the specifications and components of the Analyzer.
CHAPTER 3. INSTALLATION covers the gamut of steps needed to get the Analyzer fully functional, from
unpacking to installation.
CHAPTER 4. BASIC ANALYZER OPERATION provides both an overview and details of the principles of
operation.
CHAPTER 5. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION is a reference guide to familiarize users with the menu paths,
options, and selections available to control the Analyzer.
CHAPTER 6. SETTING UP INPUTS AND OUTPUTS provides detailed instructions for configuring the
Alarm Outputs, the RS-232 Output, the Isolated Binary Outputs, and the Isolated Binary Inputs to expand
remote Analyzer monitoring and control capabilities.
CHAPTER 7. MULTISTREAM OPERATION is a set of basic application notes on implementing
measurement strategies for Analyzers monitoring multiple water streams.
CHAPTER 8. MAINTENANCE describes the routine maintenance activities for the Analyzer and includes
procedures for replacement of consumables. Also included is general guidance in making and breaking
fluidic connections and a fluidics diagram.
CHAPTER 9. MESSAGE AND ERROR CODES provides a reference table of Message and Error Codes
displayed during the operation of the Analyzer.
