Introduction
This manual is designed to assist you with the maintenance of the S3 ® MedSurg Bed, Model 3002. Read it thoroughly
before using the equipment.
INTENDED USE – STRYKER S3 ®
The S3
®
MedSurg Bed, Model 3002 is intended to support and transport patients within the Med/Surg and Critical Care
hospital environments. The S3 ® MedSurg Bed, Model 3002 is typically used in pre-op, post-op and recovery areas of
hospital facilities. The intended user for this product is both Health Care Providers (HCPs: nurses, nurses’ aides, and
medical doctors) and human patients. Lockout features may limit patient accessible controls. This product is to be
used in combination with a patient sleep surface. The bed has fowler, gatch and lift articulation capabilities that aide
in the adjustment of surface contour, angle, and height. The product offers various options, outlined in the product
operations and maintenance manuals, including but not limited to

awareness, scale, IV pole, defib tray, etc. i Bed
awareness allows users to set various bed parameters to monitor bed positioning. Alerts inform users as to patient
movement within a specific zone(s) on a patient surface. The bed may be equipped with an integrated scale intended
to weigh the patient in bed. The scale output is not intended to be used to determine diagnosis or treatment. Both the
i Bed Awareness and Chaperone
®
Bed Exit system provide both visual and audible alerts.
The intended patient population for the S3 ® MedSurg Bed, Model 3002 is as follows:
• The product should be used with patients upwards of 50 lbs and have a safe working load of 500 lbs.
• The patient must be at least 2 years old
• The patient must be less than 84” without a bed extender OR 96” with a bed extender

The S3
®
MedSurg Bed, Model 3002 has an expected service life of 10 years under normal use conditions and with
appropriate periodic maintenance as described in the maintenance manual for each device.
The product is not intended to support more than one individual at a time.
