8 Maintenance and inspections
8.1 Special safety guidelines

Risk of accidents due to non-observance of the safety guidelines
There is a risk of accidents if the general safety guidelines are not observed.

8.2 Measures for environmental protection
RECYCLING
Dispose of components according to the local guidelines properly and in an environmentally-friendly
way.
8.3 General points
The clutch is wear-free.
A Stromag-qualified service employee should be charged with replacing any spare parts when necessary as this
requires special tools and technical know-how.
8.4 Maintenance and inspection intervals

Due to the different operating conditions, the exact intervals for inspection, maintenance and repair cannot be
determined in advance. Higher clutch loads (e.g. due to torque, switching frequency, ambient temperature, etc.)
require shorter maintenance intervals. Therefore, the clutch should initially be observed for functional safety
(e.g. air gap, temperature, noise generation, etc.) and the maintenance intervals adapted according to this infor-
mation.
The manufacturer of the complete machine is responsible for adapting the service intervals to the actual operat-
ing conditions.
8.4.1 Clutches in wet operation
The grooved ball bearings (8) listed in the table are fitted. Due to the different operating conditions, it is not pos-
sible to predetermine the service life of the grooved ball bearing. We therefore recommend a functional check in
the frame of the appropriate maintenance intervals. If there is excessive contamination and/or ageing of the oil
(increase in viscosity), change the oil. For instructions on the required oil quality, see section 6.3.5. Defect
grooved ball bearings must be replaced, see section 8.4.4.
