Safety regulations for handling consumables
Storing pressurised-gas vessels
The cylinder and main shut-off valves must be
closed as soon as the truck is parked.
The special regulations governing the storage
of pressurised-gas containers must be ob-
served without fail, in addition to country-spe-
cific regulations where appropriate.
Pressurised gas containers must be stored as
follows:
• away from sources of ignition and heat
• protected from sunlight
• locked away and not accessible to children
• not in rooms below ground level
• not in stairwells, hallways/landings, con-
fined yards and passageways/thorough-
fares or in their immediate vicinity
• not on steps of outdoor installations
• not in specially marked escape routes
• not in garages
• not in work rooms.
NOTE
Please observe the section entitled "General
requirements for pressurised-gas containers;
Operating pressurised-gas containers" in
the technical regulations for pressurised-gas
containers (TRG 380 and 404), in addition to
your relevant national guidelines.
Electric hand lamps used in these rooms must
be provided with an enclosed sealed cover
and a strong basket guard.
Set-down rooms, storage rooms and mainte-
nance workshops must be well ventilated. It is
important to bear in mind that LPG is heavier
than air. It collects at floor level, in work pits
and other depressions in the ground, where
explosive mixtures of gas and air may be pro-
duced.
