Work Becomes “Trapped” In the Pressing Area
If, following the completion of a cycle or program, the sample cannot
be removed from between the piston pressing face (
7
) and the top
bolster anvil pressing face (
10
), release the force via the lead screw (
8
)
by turning the handle (
9
) anti clockwise.
No Sample In The Pressing Area
If the press is operated with no sample in the pressing area, the piston
will continue until the limit of its travel, unless aborted, and then stop.
The load indicated will be at or near to the applied Set Load. A
message “Reached Piston Limit” will be momentarily illuminated.
To reset, press the release button (
12
) and the load will be released
and allow the piston to retract. The release button (
12
) may need to be
pressed again after the “RDY” condition status to allow the piston to
retract further to its original start position. If this procedure does not
work then try the procedure as found on page 28 for Piston Travel, by
pressing the start button (
11
) and then immediately lifting the safety
guard (
5
).
It may, as a precautionary measure, be necessary to force the piston
to retract by turning the lead screw (
8
) with a suitable bolster block of
metal in place of a sample and then applying and releasing a load.
However, Specac would always recommend that the piston is allowed
to retract under its own weight or with an Evacuable Pellet Die in
position acting as the additional weight.
Note:
If at all possible avoid running the piston to the limit of its
travel.
