Shut Down and Open Computer
1.
Shut down your Power Macintosh. If the com-
puter has been on for any length of time, wait a
few minutes for it to cool before beginning the
installation.
2.
Disconnect the power and peripheral cables
from the back of the computer and move it
to an area where you can freely work.
3.
With the rear of the computer facing you, open
your Power Macintosh by removing the four
security screws on the rear panel
(Figure 1)
with a medium Phillips screwdriver.
4.
Slide the logic board as far out of the case as
it will go without completely removing it
(Figure 2)

Remove Logic Board Brace
1.
Unlock the clamp that secures the main SCSI
cable to the logic board brace
(Figure 3)
.
2.
Touch the logic board brace
(Figure 4)
to dis-
charge any potential damaging static electricity.
Unscrew the top brace screw
(Figure 4)
with a
short-handled, small Phillips screwdriver. It is in
a tight space located behind the metal plate
that runs horizontal to the brace.
