RB6741-Z Touchscreen Security System Installation Manual 

Force-Defaulting a Smoke Detector 

To force-default a smoke detector: 

1. 

Twist the back cover of the smoke detector to remove it from the device. 

2. 

Remove the batteries. 

3. 

Use a screwdriver to release the securing tabs that 
secure the front cover and remove it. 

 

4. 

Locate the tamper switch on the circuit board (the 
switch is at a 90º angle to the casing plane). 

 

5. 

While pressing and holding the tamper switch, insert a single battery into the smoke 
detector. The LED goes ON. 

6. 

After 1 second, release the tamper switch. The LED blinks green. 

7. 

Replace the front cover. 

8. 

Replace all the batteries to the smoke detector. 

9. 

Replace the back cover.
