Preparing your Water Pump

•  Your pump comes supplied without engine oil. Filling and checking the

engine oil level should always be done before use

•  Place water pump on flat level ground
•  Unscrew Dipstick (13) from Oil Filler Neck (16)
•  Carefully pour in oil, of type and quantity in the specification
•  Wait a few minutes for it to settle
•  Make sure the Dipstick (13) is clean and dry, then screw it all the way

back in to the Filler Neck (16)

•  Remove the Dipstick (13) again, keeping the stick pointing down, as

shown in Fig G

•  The ideal level should be just below 'H'
•  Top up as required to reach this level

Assembling your Water Pump

Suction hose

•  You now need to connect your reinforced suction Hose (2) (not supplied)
•  Make sure the hose is as short as practically possible
•  Push the Hose Coupler (4) into your Hose (2) as far as it will go. (Fig B)
•  Tighten the Hose Clamp (3) using a screwdriver or spanner
•  Push the Water Filter (1) in to the other end of the suction Hose (2)
•  Tighten another Clamp (3) around Hose (2) to secure
•  Place a Rubber Seal (5) inside the Hose Coupler (4)
•  Screw the hose coupler on to the Water Inlet (24) tightly, by hand

Discharge hose

•  The discharge hose does not need to be reinforced
•  Follow the instructions for Suction hose, but WITHOUT fitting a Filter (1)

Priming your water pump

•  With the Water Filter (1) fully submerged, and the discharge hose pointing

to a suitable place, prime the pump

•  Remove the cap from the Water Priming Point (26) by unscrewing it
•  Fill the pump with water until it will not accept any more. (Fig. D)
•  Screw the cap back onto the Water Priming Point (26)

Operating your Water Pump

•  Make sure your water pump is on firm level ground, prepared and

assembled as described in this manual

Fuelling

•  Always refuel in a safe place, well away from the work area, and any

source of heat or ignition. Avoid any contact with the fuel

•  Only add fuel when the engine is stopped, and has cooled fully
•  Remove Fuel Tank Cap (6) and fill with fuel, see specification

Starting the pump

•  Set Fuel Lever (8) to ON – move it fully to the right
•  Set Choke Lever (9) to ON – move it fully to the left. NOTE – choke should

only be ON if the engine is COLD

•  Set Speed Control (10) to ¼ (from right to left – see sticker)
•  Turn Ignition Switch (12) to ON
•  CHECK the Exhaust Outlet (7) is clear of obstruction and flammable

materials. It will get hot quickly

•  Firmly pull Starter Handle (14 & Fig. E) until the engine starts
•  NOTE – after each pull of the Starter Handle (14) control its return. DO

NOT allow it to snap back towards the pump

•  The engine will run at a fast idle, allow it to do this for 20 - 30 seconds
•  CHECK that there is water coming from the discharge hose. If no water

is pumping, stop engine. Carry out priming your water pump, then restart

engine

•  If water is still not pumping, prime the pump then start and INCREASE the

engine and pump speed quickly

•  Slowly reduce the amount of Choke (9) by moving it from left to right
•  Allow the engine to run at this speed (

1

4

) for a few minutes to warm up,

before adjusting the Speed (10) as required

Stopping the pump

•  Reduce engine speed to its lowest – move Speed Control (10) fully to

the right

•  Allow engine to run at idle speed for 30 seconds
•  Turn Ignition Switch (12) to OFF position

•  Turn Fuel Lever (8) to OFF position – fully to the left
•  Allow the pump and engine to cool fully before attempting to move, or

carrying out any cleaning and maintenance

Draining water

•  Remove the Water Drain Plug (23)
•  Tip forward (Fig F) and allow to drain fully
•  Replace Drain Plug (23)

Draining fuel

•  Only drain fuel when pump has fully cooled down
•  Place a suitable container underneath the Fuel Drain Screw (17)
•  Unscrew the Fuel Drain Screw (17) using a screwdriver or spanner
•  Allow the fuel to drain fully into the container
•  Replace the Drain Screw (17) and tighten firmly

Cleaning

•  Only clean when pump has fully cooled down
•  Use a mild soapy solution and a stiff brush
•  Rinse with clean water
•  Dry as thoroughly as possible – parts of this product will corrode if left wet

Maintenance Schedule

•  Only carry out maintenance when the pump has fully cooled down
•  The following is a guide. Maintenance should be adjusted according

to use and environment. Generally, the more use and the harsher the

environment, the more frequent the maintenance

  - Oil change: Every 50 hours
  - Spark plug: Every 150 hours
  - Wash air filter: Every 150 hours

Cleaning the air filter element

•  Unscrew the cap on the Air Filter Housing (11) and lift off complete

assembly

•  Turn over assembly
•  Remove Air Filter Retainer (19) noting which way around it faces
•  Remove Filter Element (20)
•  Rinse in kerosene then allow to dry
•  Refit air filter by reversing this procedure

Replacing and adjusting the spark plug

•  Pull the Ignition Lead (22) off of the Spark Plug (21) Fig. I
•  Unscrew the Spark Plug (21) using the Socket (15) supplied
•  Adjust the gap (see specification) using a feeler gauge. Clean using a

wire brush

•  OR replace using a recommended spark plug (see specification)
•  Replace spark plug and tighten firmly with the socket and bar
•  NOTE: be careful not to cross threads or over tighten
•  Refit Ignition Lead (22)

Changing the engine oil

•  Start and run the engine for around 2 minutes to warm the oil, then

switch off

•  Place the pump above a large oil draining bowl. Make sure the Sump

Plug (18) is above the centre

•  Using a 10mm socket and long extension, undo (anticlockwise) the Sump

Plug (18)

•  Allow the oil to drain fully for a minimum of 10 minutes
•  Tip the pump a little to get all of the waste oil out
•  Replace the Sump Plug (18) and tighten firmly with a ratchet
•  To replace the oil, see

 Preparing your water pump

•  Contact your local waste facility for advice about disposing of waste

engine oil

Disposal

Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic

equipment, with household waste.
Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the proper
way to dispose of tools.
