26A Battery Charger 12/24V

178555

IMPORTANT:

This is a single-stage manual charger. It has no automatic

functionality and does not switch off charging when the battery is fully
charged.

IMPORTANT:

Ensure the battery is in a well-ventilated area before

commencing charging to prevent the build up of flammable gases.

IMPORTANT:

This is an earthed device and must be connected to an

earthed mains socket.

IMPORTANT:

It is recommended to use this battery charger to charge only

one battery at a time. Full information regarding how to charge batteries
in series or parallel with this charger is beyond the scope of this manual.
However it is important to match: voltage, capacity, state of charge, relative
age and ideally brand and model of each battery to ensure correct charging
for both series and parallel.  It is also important that battery banks have a
final voltage of 12V or 24V and the combined Ah rating is within the range
stated in the specification.
•  Check that the Voltage Switch (4) is positioned correctly for the voltage

of the battery being charged

•  Connect the battery charger to the mains power supply
•  Set the Charge Rate Switch (6) to an appropriate position for the battery

being charged

Note:

Batteries should only be charged at a current equal to 1/10 of their Ah

rating (e.g. a 100Ah battery should not be charged at a current greater than
10A), if the battery has been allowed to deep discharge do not charge at a
rate greater than 1/20 of their Ah rating
•  The charge rate can be monitored by referring to the Ammeter (1). If

the charge rate is too high, move the Charge Rate Switch (6) to the
'MIN' position

•  For a quick charge to refresh a partially drained battery, allow 5-10

minutes charging time with the Charge Rate Switch set to the 'BOOST'
position

•  As the battery charges, the charge rate will gradually decrease. When

the reading on the Ammeter (1) reaches '0', the battery is fully charged.

Note:

Regularly monitor the Ammeter so you can switch off the battery

charger as soon as the battery is fully charged.
•  When charging very cold batteries, the initial charge rate may increase

as the battery warms. Do not attempt to charge a frozen battery

•  Internally damaged (shorted) batteries will draw very high current,

without charging. If the battery has been charging for 5-10 minutes and
shows no reduction in charging current, the battery may be damaged.
Stop charging and have the battery professionally tested

•  Disconnect the Negative Clamp (Black) (10)
•  Disconnect the Positive Clamp (Red) (11)
•  Refit battery in vehicle if removed, ensuring positive terminal is

connected before the negative terminal.

IMPORTANT:

Disconnect the charger from the mains power supply, then

disconnect the battery after use. Leaving the battery connected may result
in overcharging and permanent battery damage.

Maintenance

WARNING:

Always ensure that the battery charger is disconnected from the

mains power supply before performing any maintenance procedure.

Replacing the DC Fuse

IMPORTANT:

Disconnect the charger from the mains supply and battery.

The DC Fuse (3) protects the DC output circuit of the battery charger.
The DC Fuse may blow if the clamps are allowed to touch each other,
the battery has an internal fault, the clamp connections to the battery are
reversed or there is a fault with the car electrics (if the battery is charged
in the vehicle).

When the DC Fuse blows, correct the issue that caused the DC Fuse to blow
and replace with a good quality fuse of the same rating as previously fitted
(see specification).

Replacing the 230V Fuse

WARNING:

Disconnect product from the power supply. Disconnect any

batteries.
Remove the 230V Fuse (5) by unscrewing the fuse cover with a slotted
screwdriver. Remove and dispose of the blown fuse. Replace with a good
quality fuse of the correct rating (See Specification).

Cleaning

•  Keep your machine clean. Do not allow waste to collect on any part

of the tool.

Always clean dust and particles away and never allow ventilation holes to
become blocked as this will prevent the charger from cooling. Use a soft
brush, dry cloth or vacuum to clean the machine.

Storage

•  Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of

children

Disposal

Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of electrical
equipment that is no longer functional and are viable for repair.
•  Do not dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE),

with household waste

•  Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the

correct  way to dispose of electrical equipment
