Configuration of the serial interface
You configure depending on the application or the firmware version of the CP.

CP as replacement for TIM 3V-IE Advanced
Use a CP with firmware V2.1.
–
You have exported the configuration data of the substitute for the CP
(PROXY CP1243-8 IRC) from STEP 7 V5 as a text file with the SDB content.
–
You import this text file in STEP 7 Basic in the parameter group Partner stations
(Page 90).

CP for new systems
Use a CP with firmware V3.
You configure the serial interface only in STEP 7 Basic, refer to the section below.
SMS
If the CP is intended to use the sending of SMS messages, you need to activate the function:

CP with firmware V2.1
Enable or disable the sending of SMS messages at this point and assign the number of
the SMSC (Short Message Service Center).

CP with firmware V3
You enable SMS and configure the SMSC in the parameter group SMSC (Page 103).

Configuring a TS module
Configuration of the serial interface is only possible and necessary for the CP with a
firmware version as of V3.
To be able to configure the serial interface, you must first insert the suitable TS module in
STEP 7. Without a configured TS module, the serial interface is not displayed and the CP is
only displayed with the green symbol for the Ethernet interface.
Inserting a TS module for the serial interface
To insert a TS module in STEP 7, follow the steps outlined below:
1.
Open the device view of the CP.
When the network view is open: Open the device view by double-clicking on the CP or by
clicking on the work area "Device view".
2.
Select the CP in the device view.
The CP is displayed with a blue frame.
