HP Heavy-Duty Industrial Tilting Spindle Shaper
Once the assembly is complete, test run your machine to
make sure it runs properly and is ready for regular opera-
tion.
The test run consists of verifying the following: 1) The
motor powers up and runs correctly, and 2) the safety dis-
abling mechanism on the switch works correctly.
If, during the test run, you cannot easily locate the source
of an unusual noise or vibration, stop using the machine
immediately, then review

If you still cannot remedy a problem, contact our Tech
Support at (360) 734-3482 for assistance.
To test run the machine:
1.
Make sure you understand the safety instructions at
the beginning of the manual, and that the machine
is setup properly.
2.
Make sure all tools and objects used during setup are
cleared away from the machine.
3.
Remove the locking hex bolt with washer, spindle
nut, spacers, and any cutters from the spindle (refer
to
Page 28
for detailed instructions).
4.
Make sure the spindle is properly secured into the
spindle shaft (refer to
Page 44
for detailed instruc-
tions).
5.
Lower the spindle as far as it will go, and bring the
spindle tilt to zero degrees (refer to
Pages 23 & 24
for detailed instructions).
6.
Make sure the spindle rotation lock is in the
unlocked
position (handle pulled out), and the
spindle rotates freely and clear of any obstructions
(refer to
Page 23
for detailed instructions.
Test Run
Projectiles thrown from the machine
could cause serious eye injury. Wear
safety glasses to reduce the risk of
injury.
NOTICE
DO NOT turn the shaper
ON
while the spindle is
locked. Otherwise, the motor, V-belt, and spindle
may be damaged.
Before starting the shaper, make sure
you have performed the preceding
assembly and adjustment instructions,
and you have read through the rest of
the manual and are familiar with the
various functions and safety features
on this machine. Failure to follow this
warning could result in serious per-
sonal injury or even death!
