HP Heavy-Duty Industrial Tilting Spindle Shaper
The fence mount guards against accidental contact with
the cutter. The fence mount also diverts the wood debris
from the cutter to the upper dust port, and provides
mounting points for the fence assembly and hold-downs.
To install the fence mount, do these steps:
1.
Center the fence mount on the rear of the table.
2.
Secure the fence mount by threading the adjustment
shafts into the table mounting holes (see
Figure 6
).
The vertical hold-downs keep the workpiece firmly against
the table and prevent the workpiece from rising up when
passing by the cutter.
To install the vertical hold-downs, do these steps:
1.
Insert the short end of each vertical hold-down bar
into the fence mount, as shown in
Figure 7
, and
secure them with the M10-1.5 x 30 hex bolts.
2.
Slide the hold-down fingers into the notches of the
vertical hold-down brackets.
3.
Slide these assemblies onto the hold-down bars (see
Figure 8
), and secure with the M10-1.5 x 40 hex
bolts.
Note: The direction and orientation of the vertical
hold-down finger shown in Figure
8
is correct when
the cutter is rotating FORWARD, and the workpiece
is passing the cutter from right-to-left.
Position the vertical hold-down fingers in the oppo-
site direction (pointing down and to the right) when
the cutter is rotating in REVERSE, and the workpiece
is passing the cutter from the left-to-right.

and hold-downs before starting the shaper for the
first time. Failure to heed this warning could result
in serious personal injury.
