SSD MANUAL OVERRIDE OPERATION
The automated crushing operation for the Model 0101 is designed to perform a complete cycle before coming to
a stop after crushing materials. A manual override method is acceptable when crushing SSD materials; this
method may save the user time; in lieu of having to wait for the hydraulic ram to complete its full cycle and
return to its starting/resting position; this method provides a way to stop the hydraulic ram midway and hence
allowing the user to remove the destroyed media and insert the next piece of media earlier.
Warning: Gloves are recommended for this operation as the SSD Anvil has many sharp tines and the
crushed SSD material may also be sharp!
The following procedure reviews the steps required to perform a manual override while destroying SSD Media:
1.
Insert SSD Material as described in the
SSD - Operation
section of this manual.
2.
Press the green "RUN" button and allow the SSD Anvil to perform its normal operation.
3.
After hearing the click, wait for the anvil to begin its upward ascent towards the start/resting position,
when there is enough space between the anvil and the wear plate to remove the destroyed SSD Media
and room enough to insert the next piece to be destroyed (approximately 1/2") open the access door, the
hydraulic ram will immediately stop in that position.
4.
Remove the destroyed media from the crushing chamber.
5.
Position the next piece into the crushing chamber and close the access door.
6.
Push the green "RUN" button and repeat the process as needed.
Note:
If the access door is opened during the crushing cycle, the hydraulic ram will stop moving. When the access
door is reclosed, the operator will need to press the "Run" or "Stop" button to restart the crushing cycle.
Warning:
After each cycle the destroyed SSD Media must be removed from the crushing chamber. Sometimes the
media will stick the anvil. Use a small regular screwdriver to separate the media from the anvil.
Stacking pieces of media for destruction, or failure to remove media after processing can damage the
Crusher and will void the warranty.
