INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

1. Make sure that the tool is only connected to the voltage marked on

the name plate.

2. Never use the tool if its cover or any bolts are missing. If the cover

or bolts have been removed, replace them prior to use. Maintain all
parts in good working order.

3. Always secure tools when working in elevated positions.
4. Never touch the blade, drill bit, grinding wheel or other moving parts

during use.

5. Never start a tool when its rotating component is in contact with the

work piece.

6. Never lay a tool down before its moving parts have come to a com-

plete stop.

7. ACCESSORIES : The use of accessories or attachments other than

those recommended in this manual might present a hazard.

8. REPLACEMENT PARTS : When servicing use only identical re-

placement parts.

ROTARY HAMMER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1. Mount the bit correctly as described in the operation instructions.

Unless properly mounted, the bit may shoot out.

2. Do not use on surfaces covering electrical wiring.

Before using on walls, floors or ceilings, check for the location of
any electric wiring.

3. Hold the tool securely with both hands while operating. The tool

may recoil, causing injury to your hands, if not held firmly.

4. Do not touch the bit as it becomes extremely hot during operation.
5. Never point the hammer bit towards any person.
6.

Use safety equipment. Always wear a dust mask.

7.

Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.

8.

Use the auxiliary handles supplied with the tool. Loss of control can
cause personal injury.

APPLICATIONS

(Use only for the purposes listed below.)

1. Drilling concrete.
2. Crushing, chipping, grooving and cornering concrete.
3. Starting holes and driving anchors.

NOISE BUILD-UP

Noise (sound pressure level) in the workplace can exceed 85 dB (A). In
this case, sound insulation and hearing protection measures must be
taken by the operator.

SWITCH (Fig. 1)

This tool is started and stopped by squeezing and releasing the trigger (1).

SPEED ADJUSTMENT (ED-450E ONLY) (Fig. 2)

The speed of this tool can be adjusted from 250 through 500 min.-1.
The letters 1 through 6 can be found on the speed adjustment dial (2).
According to the task, turn the dial to adjust the speed from the lowest
speed 1 to the highest speed 6.

CHANGING THE ACTION MODE (Figs. 3 to 6)

The mode selector knob (3) is on the side of the tool.
Only operate the mode selector knob when the switch is turned off.
Press the release button (4) on the mode selector knob (3) and move the
button to the desired position.

HAMMER DRILLING MODE (Fig. 4)
Position the knob to the “           ” symbol for rotation with hammering
action.

HAMMERING MODE (Fig. 5, 6)
Position the knob to the “            ” or the “            ” symbols for hammering
action.

Hammering with rotation-free (Fig. 5)
Position the knob to the “            ”.

Hammering with rotation-lock (Fig. 6)
Position the knob to the “            ”.

NOTE!
When you want to lock the chisel at a desired angle, after positioning the
knob to the “             ” and deciding the chisel angle, return the knob to the
“           ”. Turn the chisel by hand to the nearest angle that the chisel is
locked.

MOUNTING AND REMOVING THE BIT (Fig. 7 to 8)

MAKE SURE THAT THE TOOL IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE
POWER SUPPLY.
ONLY USE ACCESSORIES WITH CLEAN, GREASED INSERTION
ENDS.

MOUNTING

1. Insert the bit (6) into the front cap (5).
2. With some pressure, turn until it slides into the front cap and latches

itself

3. Pull the bit to ensure that it is secured.

REMOVING

1. Remove the bit while pulling back the tool sleeve (7).

AUXILIARY HANDLE (Fig. 9)

The auxiliary handle (8) can be rotated 360

°

.

Loosen the handle grip by turning in direction B, and tighten it at an
easy-to-use position by turning the grip in direction A.

STOPPER POLE (Fig. 10)

By using the stopper pole (9), holes of a fixed depth can be accurately
bored.
The depth of the hole will be the distance from the end of the bit to the
end of the stopper pole.
