Notes on the flight battery
It will be apparent to you when motor power starts to decline;
when that happens, land the model immediately and disconnect
the battery. Don’t run the battery down until it is completely
exhausted, as this would deep-discharge the pack and cause
permanent damage.
Allow the battery to cool off before recharging it.

Gyro gain is pre-set at the factory, but fine adjustment is possi-
ble. If you wish to adjust it, use this procedure:
Fly the model straight and level and increase speed to maximum,
then give a brief jab of the tail rotor stick to one side of neutral. If
the tail of the helicopter starts to oscillate (swing from side to
side), then gyro gain is set too high.
Turn the gain adjustor on the gyro to the left. If the tail stops
yawing without any tendency to oscillate, you may like to increa-
se gyro gain by turning the adjustor to the right. Continue testing
until you reach the optimum setting: when the tail looks as if it will
oscillate, but stops just short of doing so.
Any changes should be made in very small increments.
The tail rotor servo travel is pre-set at the factory.
Replacing the rotor blades
If a rotor blade should be damaged, it must be replaced immedi-
ately. Remember to re-balance the rotor blades before fitting
them, and check blade tracking once more. When you have
installed the new rotor blade, tighten the retaining screw just to
the point where the blade is still free to swivel.
Important
Before every flight check that all the screwed joints are still tight
(especially in the drive train and rotor system). All the following
parts of the helicopter should be re-greased or oiled after every
two or three hours’ flying:
Main rotor shaft where the swashplate is located
Tail rotor shaft where the tail rotor slider is located
Main gearbox
After every 100 flights the main rotor shaft bearings should be
checked and replaced if necessary.
After every 50 flights check the freewheel and the tail rotor shaft,
and replace them if necessary.
One final tip
If you are acquainted with a skilled, experienced model helicop-
ter pilot, it is always worthwhile asking him for help and advice.
Many little points will clear themselves up immediately if you can
fall back upon the experience of a competent chopper pilot.
Flight simulator software
If you are a beginner to the art of flying model helicopters we
strongly recommend that you polish your skills using a flight
simulator.
The model is supplied with a CD which contains flight simulator
software. You will need the Windows XP / 2000 operating system
in order to use it.
The software is also freely available on the Internet. Current ver-
sions can be downloaded at:
http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/
The transmitter can be connected to your computer using the
USB lead supplied; connect it to the socket on the back of the
transmitter.
Replacement parts
Replacement parts are available in the stated sets only.
The Appendix includes a listing of replacement parts with the
corresponding numbers and part descriptions.
When ordering spare parts please state the complete set number
and description.
