Symptom
Possible Cause
Possible Factors
Action
44 mm pitch
(charge roller
pitch)
Insufficient drum
cleaning
•
Cleaning blade has reached its
lifetime, causing cleaning efficiency
to drop.
•
Paper dust or other foreign particles
stick to the blade surface, decreasing
cleaning efficiency.
•
To remove the paper dust in the unit, make 20 sky shot copies or
20 copies of an all-black test pattern
•
Clean the dust cleaning Mylar refer to TSB A265/A267-028 or
install the registration cleaning pad refer to TSB A265/A267-037
update #2.
•
Clean the charge roller
•
Replace the PCU
Horizontal line
and band
(includes
black spots)
50 mm pitch,
rear side
(transfer
roller pitch)
Transfer roller is dirty
•
The electrostatic properties of the
developer and toner deteriorate,
lowering chargeability.
•
When the value of Vtref is 2.8 – 3.1, change the value of SP2-929-
1 (Vtref Upper Limit) to 3.2 or 3.3
Make 20 sky shot copies or 20 copies of an all-black test patterns. If the
value of Vsp is less than 0.4, replace the PCU
•
Replace transfer roller
94 mm pitch
(drum pitch)
The drum surface gets
damaged or attracts
particles/foreign
materials.
•
Toner or the adhesive from label
paper sticks to the surface of the
drum.
•
Jammed paper is removed too
forcefully or incorrectly, or foreign
particles are introduced into the
machine.
Clean the drum surface with a dry cloth
Drum potential is low
only in certain areas
(not uniformly across
the surface).
•
Drum surface filming
•
Drum has reached its lifetime (OPC
layer has thinned out)
•
Clean drum surface with a dry cloth
•
If this does not correct the filming, replace the PCU.
•
Toner density is too high
•
When the value of Vtref is 2.8 – 3.1, change the value of SP2-929-
1 (Vtref Upper Limit) to 3.2 or 3.3
•
Make 20 sky shot copies or 20 copies of an all-black test patterns.
If the value of Vsp is less than 0.4, replace the PCU
Horizontal line
and band
(includes
black spots)
125 mm
pitch
(fusing roller
pitch)
Fusing offset
•
Insufficient fusing when using thick
paper
•
Dirty fusing roller
•
Adjust the position of the fusing pressure lever
•
Clean or replace the fusing roller
