CLEANING THE PISTON FILLER
Piston fillers in which products are processed for human consumption should be
cleaned and disinfected after every end of production, after work breaks > 1-1.5
hours, but at least 1 x daily. Lime or protein deposits should be removed at least
1x per month with an acidic cleanser, e.g. "Henkel P3-topax 56" or "Goldschmidt
SOMPLEX foaming acid", or another adequate cleanser (the names of the
products is not a note of the quality to be expected but only of the effectiveness
of the products).
The measures are indispensable for:
-
the good quality of the product
-
avoiding biological contaminations of the product
-
fulfilling appropriate hygiene regulations
-
conserving the piston filler’s value.
Cleaning can be done with alkaline, alternatively with acidic solutions. The
appropriate suitable medium is alternatively applicable or must be selected
corresponding to the nature of the material of the machinery components. Notes
and operating instructions of the supplier of such medium should be followed
strictly.
5.2.1
Material types and cleaning procedure
The compatibility of materials must be considered when using mediums for
cleaning and disinfecting. The following table gives information about the
applicable cleaning procedures that are subsequently explained in the “Cleaning
plan”.
