A. Pipin g
___ Water s u pply piped to proper location on e v aporati v e cooler.
___ Water s u pply line drain solenoid (normally open) installed and piped to a drain inside the b u ilding.
___ Fill v al v e solenoid (normally closed) installed in the w ater s u pply line inside the b u ilding.
___ S u mp o v ero w is piped to a drain.
___ S u mp drain is piped and the s u mp drain v al v e is installed.
___ Trap installed in s u mp drain pipe per local code.
___ S u mp drain ball v al v e is w ired properly.
B. Electrical
___ Electrical connections are made at j u nction box on air handler.
___ Water s u pply line drain solenoid (normally open) is w ired properly.
___ Fill v al v e solenoid (normally closed) is w ired properly.
C. Basic Operation (Control Packa g e #1- Items apply to all evaporative coolers.)
___ E v ap enable relay (located in main electrical panel) energizes e v aporati v e cooler. The fill v al v e energizes
and s u mp begins filling.
___ The o u tside air freeze stat is set at 45° F.
___ When the o u tside air is belo w the freeze stat setpoint, the stat opens and the s u mp drains.
___ The w ater le v el is belo w the cardboard media s u pport. The media sho u ld ne v er sit in the w ater.
Adj u stment of the float may be req u ired depending on ho w le v el the air handler w as installed.
___ Flo w of w ater o v er the media is adj u sted properly. Proper o w is achie v ed by adj u sting (if needed) the
w ater flo w adj u stment v al v e so that the media completely sat u rates w itho u t getting droplets of w ater
projecting o media in direction of airflo w . It may take u p to 2 ho u rs for the media to properly sat u rate.
Final o w adj u stments sho u ld be made then.
___ Adj u sted bleed-o rate to approximately 20% of the e v aporation rate. Please refer to the E v aporati v e
Cooler Maintenance Section of the Installation, Operation and Ser v ice Man u al for f u rther information.
