Drive Belts and Sheaves Check for belt ride in the groo v e. In m u ltiple groo v e dri v es, belt ride sho u ld be
u niform. Check groo v e w ear area for w ear. Side w all of groo v e sho u ld be
straight, not dished o u t. Bottom of groo v e sho u ld sho w no signs of belt
contact.
Shea v e alignment, set scre w torq u e and belt tension sho u ld be checked after
8, 24, and 100 ho u rs of initial start- u p. Vis u ally inspect belts and shea v es for
excessi v e w ear. If belts ha v e a slick, glazed look, the belts are slipping. Check
dri v e capacity and belt tension. Ne v er replace only one belt in a u sed set, as
u sed belts w ill elongate. Replace the entire set if replacement is necessary.

Blower Bearin g
Lubrication
Blo w ers w ith spider bracket bearings are pre-l u bricated and do not req u ire
any re-l u brication d u ring their entire ser v ice life. Blo w ers that u se pillo w block
bearings; sho u ld be re-l u bricated per the chart belo w . The recommended
l u bricant is Shell Al v ania #2 or S3 grease. To re-l u bricate the blo w er pillo w
block bearings, be s u re that the grease fittings on the bearing ho u sing (or air
handler cabinet w all in the case of extended grease lines) are clean. Apply
the recommended grease to the fitting w ith a lo w -press u re grease g u n and
add slo w ly w hile the shaft is sp u n by hand. Do not o v er-grease. O v er-greasing
w ill red u ce the ser v ice life of the bearings. Cons u lt the blo w er man u fact u rer
for grease capacity recommendations as capacities v ary by model.
