WEATHER STATION
COMMUNICATION WIRING
TELEPHONE CONNECTED - USING
TELEPHONE COMPANY LINES:
(MODEL PRO-PH - Only)
The Telephone Company needs to run a
direct burial telephone cable to the
weather station and terminate it near the
base of the weather station. This needs
to be a modem quality type telephone
line with a separate call number.
The “TIP” line of the telephone cable
shall be connected to the WHITE
(“TIP”) wire of a 20’telephone patch
cable, furnished as part of the weather
station, marked P/N 9661 - 2 conductor
cable with WHITE (“TIP”) and BLACK
(“RING”) pair of wires. The “RING”
line of the telephone cable shall be
connected to the BLACK (“RING”) wire
of the telephone patch cable (P/N 9661).
Splices shall be made using 3-M DBY
Direct Burial connectors. The splices
for the phone line shall be made in the
valve box, where the power wiring
splices are made and where the MGP-1
grounding plate assembly with an MSP-
1 surge arrestor mounted in it, is
attached to one rod of a 3-rod grounding
grid.
Refer to FIGURE 7 below.
This telephone patch cable (P/N 9661)
shall be routed through the 1 ½”
diameter long sweep elbow to the base
of the weather station.

INSTALLATION
Take the 12 foot 10 AWG Ground
Cable, furnished as part of the weather
station and cut a 9” piece from on end of
it. (This 9” piece will be used later).
Attach one end of the ground wire to the
ground rod, of the 3-rod grounding grid,
that is located in the valve box using a
brass clamp.
Refer to FIGURE 6 or 7.
Feed this ground wire through the 1 ½”
long sweep elbow up to the base of the
weather station.
