Other audio problems
No sound f r om subwoofe r . • Check that the subwoofe r is connected pr o p e r ly, switched on and the volume tu r ned u p .
• If you r subwoofe r has a slee p function, make su r e it is switched off.
• Make su r e that the Subwoofe r setting is
YES
o r
PLUS
(see

• The c r ossove r f r equency may be set too low; t r y setting it highe r to match the cha r acte r istics of
you r othe r s p eake r s (see

• If the r e is ve r y little low f r equency info r mation in the sou r ce mate r ial, change you r s p eake r settings
to F r ont: SMALL / Subwoofe r : YES , o r F r ont: LARGE / Subwoofe r : PLUS (see Speaker Setting on
p age 109).
• Check that the LFE channel is not set to OFF , o r a ve r y quiet setting (see
Setting the Audio options
on p age 82).
• Check the s p eake r level settings (see
Channel Level
on p age 110).
No sound f r om one s p eake r . • Check the s p eake r connection (see

on p age 21).
• Check the s p eake r level settings (see

• Check that the s p eake r hasn’t been set to NO (see
Speaker Setting
on p age 109).
• The channel may not be r eco r ded in the sou r ce. By using one of the advanced effect listening
mode, you may be able to c r eate the missing channel (see
Listening in surround sound
on p age 57).
Sound is pr oduced f r om
analog com p onents, but not
f r om digital ones (DVD, LD,
CD-ROM, etc.).
• Check that the in p ut signal ty p e is set to DIGITAL (see Choosing the input signal on p age 63).
• Make su r e that the digital in p ut is assigned co rr ectly fo r the in p ut jack the com p onent is connected
to (see The Input Setup menu on p age 44).
• Check the digital out p ut settings on the sou r ce com p onent.
• If the sou r ce com p onent has a digital volume cont r ol, make su r e this is not tu r ned down.
• Make su r e that the multichannel analog in p uts a r e not selected. Select any othe r in p ut function.
No sound is out p ut o r a noise is
out p ut when Dolby Digital/DTS
softwa r e is p layed back.
• Check that you r DVD p laye r is com p atible with Dolby Digital/DTS discs.
• Check the digital out p ut settings of you r DVD p laye r . Make su r e that the DTS signal out p ut is set
to On.
• If the sou
r ce com p onent has a digital volume cont r ol, make su r e this is not tu r ned down.
No sound when using the
HOME MENU

• If the HDMI in p ut function is selected, sound is muted until exiting the HOME MENU .
Symptom Remedy
B r oadcast stations cannot be
selected automatically, o r
the r e is conside r able noise in
r adio b r oadcasts.
For FM broadcasts
• Fully extend the FM wi r e antenna, adjust the p osition fo r best r ece p tion and secu r e to a wall, etc.
• Use an outdoo r antenna fo r bette r r ece p tion (see p age 34).
For AM broadcasts
• Adjust the p osition and di r ection of the AM antenna.
• Use an outdoo r antenna fo r bette r r ece p tion (see p age 34).
• Noise may be caused by inte r fe r ence f r om othe r equi p ment, such as a fluo r escent light, moto r ,
etc. Switch off o r move the othe r equi p ment, o r move the AM antenna.
A multichannel DVD sou r ce
a pp ea r s to be downmixed to 2
channels du r ing p layback.
• Make su r e that the multichannel analog in p uts a r e selected (see
Selecting the multichannel analog
inputs on p age 47).
Noise is out p ut when scanning
a DTS CD.
• This is not a malfunction of the r eceive r . The scan function of you r p laye r alte r s the digital
info r mation, making it un r eadable, r esulting in noise being out p ut. Lowe r the volume when
scanning.
When p laying a DTS fo r mat LD
the r e is audible noise on the
soundt r ack.
• Make su r e that the in p ut signal ty p e is set to
DIGITAL
(see
Choosing the input signal
on p age 63).
Can’t r eco r d audio. • You can only make a digital r eco r ding f r om a digital sou r ce, and an analog r eco r ding f r om an
analog sou r ce.
• Fo r digital sou r ces, make su r e that what you’ r e r eco r ding isn’t co p y pr otected.
• Check that the
OUT
jacks a r e pr o p e r ly connected to the r eco r de r s in p ut jacks (see
Connecting
other audio components on p age 32).
