• Sound Retriever
The Sound Ret r ieve r featu r e em p loys DSP technology to
r esto r e sound pr essu r e and smooth jagged a r tifacts left
ove r afte r com pr ession. This hel p s b r ing CD quality
sound back to WMA and MP3 audio files and achieves a
r iche r sense of pr esence when p laying Dolby Digital, DTS
o r WMA 9 P r o audio fo r mats r eco r ded in multi p le
channels on DVDs and othe r discs.
• HOME MEDIA GALLERY
This r eceive r can p lay back contents sto r ed on you r
com p ute r when you r com p ute r is connected to the LAN
te r minal of this r eceive r . Also, you can listen to the
Inte r net r adio stations.
• Front Stage Surround Advance
With the F r ont Stage Su rr ound Advance featu r e, you can
enjoy seamless, natu r al su rr ound sound effects using
only the f r ont s p eake r s, without dete r io r ating the quality
of the o r iginal sound.
• Auto Level Control
When the sou r ce is p layed in Auto level cont r ol mode
(ALC), this r eceive r automatically equalizes the p layback
sound level acco r ding to the va r iation in r eco r ding levels.
• Optimum Surround
All movie c r eato r s do thei r best to ex pr ess movie’s sto r y
and use sounds 50 % to achieve it. They assume that the
finally mixed sounds should be best sound balance at
movie theate
r s that can p e r fo r m a big sound. Howeve r , in
many cases, such a big sound is actually too much fo r
custome r ’s Home Theate r envi r onment, smalle r volume is
no r mally used. In such case, the r e is p ossibility that the
sound balance is changed/de pr essed com p a r ed to movie
theate r s. The volume is smalle r , the p ossibility is highe r . In
sho r t, smalle r volume can NOT tell us sto r ies pr o p e r ly as
the same as c r eato r ’s intention.
“O p timum Su rr ound” is a new Pionee r ’s su rr ound sound
technology that has been newly develo p ed to solve this
pr oblem. Th r oughout this develo p ment, Pionee r has been
st r uggling to conside r how we should pr ovide c r eato r ’s
intention pr o p e r ly with home theate r ’s sound. And Pionee r
has found an answe r =“O p timum Su rr ound” led by two
activities as follows. One of them is to know c r eato r ’s
thought and feelings to communicate with actual
c
r eato r s, and anothe r is to invent some new sound tuning
technologies based on Pionee r ’s histo r ical technologies.
• HDMI and digital video conversion
This r eceive r is com p atible with the HDMI digital video
fo r mat, pr oviding you with high-definition digital video/
audio via a single cable.
High-quality sound fo r mats such as DTS-HD and Dolby
T r ueHD a r e su pp o r ted while this r eceive r is also
com p atible with the Dee p Colo r and x.v.Colo r featu r e.
You can o p e r ate this r eceive r in synch r onization with
you r Pionee r com p onent that su pp o r ts the KURO LINK
function by connecting you r com p onent to this r eceive r
via HDMI. Also, the built-in digital video conve r te r of this
r eceive r makes both de-inte r lacing and u p -scaling
p ossible, and analog video signals being in p ut a r e
conve r ted and out p ut as digital video signals at the HDMI
te r minal.
• XM and SIRIUS Ready
With the XM and SIRIUS Radio te r minals, you’ll be u p
and r unning in no time. This r eceive r ’s enhanced
com p atibility makes XM HD Su rr ound p layback as well
as on-sc r een cont r ol of you r XM and SIRIUS Radio an
added p ossibility.
• iPod/iPhone and USB Ready
This r eceive r has the te r minals fo r connecting an iPod/
iPhone unit and a USB mass sto r age device.
The iPod te r minal is r eady fo r handling digital audio and
video, and this r eceive r ’s enhanced com p atibility makes
on-sc r een cont r ol of you r iPod an added p ossibility.
The USB te r minal allows you to listen to two-channel
audio f r om a USB mass sto r age device connected to this
r eceive r .

Installing the receiver
• When installing this unit, make su r e to p ut it on a
level and stable su r face.
Don’t install it on the following p laces:
– on a colo r TV (the sc r een may disto r t)
– nea r a cassette deck (o r close to a device that gives off
a magnetic field). This may inte r fe r e with the sound.
– in di r ect sunlight
– in dam p o r wet a r eas
– in ext r emely hot o r cold a r eas
– in p laces whe r e the r e is vib r ation o r othe r movement
– in p laces that a r e ve r y dusty
– in p laces that have hot fumes o r oils (such as a kitchen)
• Do not touch this r eceive r ’s bottom p anel while the
p owe r is tu r ned on. The bottom p anel gets hot when
the p owe r is on, and touching it could cause bu r ns.
