2. Description of the system and it’s functions
2.1 The PIKO SmartMeasure Car
The attractively designed PIKO SmartMeasure Car is a piece of up-to-date model train technology! By the possibilities of that car “measuring”
becomes a completely new component of the model train hobby!
In connection with an Android Mobile Device or a computer all measured data can be displayed graphically or can be checked in detail later.
Additionally the measured values can be assigned to a specific loco in an archive, for example to check whether the maintenance cycle is
complete or not.
With these possibilities it now becomes possible to check any model railroad layout up to one centimeter exactly, no matter if you build a new
layout or if you want to check an existing layout.
When using the PIKO SmartMeasure Car on a DC track you can assign an own DCC address to the car or the car can listen to an assigned loco
address (“sniffer”).
With the cars own DCC address you can switch off the display or switch trough the displayed data via function buttons of the command station.
The “sniffer address” can listen to a locomotive, for example to check if signals are transferred properly over the layout.
2.2 Technical data of the PIKO SmartMeasure Car
• movable big sliding doors with display and buttons behind
• two color display to show actual measured values (several modes choosable) with touch-sensitive areas left and right of the doors, for switching
trough different displays
• the displays and the displays values can be setup free by choice
• onboard data storage for saving test-run data (up to 3 hours with WiFi off!)
• onboard battery for stand alone function (without track power or on AC-track; with WiFi-on ca. 120min. data possible)
• push bottons for manual operation (f.e. WiFi on/off, language selection or “start test run”)
• four integrated wheel slide contacts for power pick-up (for measuring and charging)
• printed wheel-inside with attached sensor for measuring the distance and speed
• USB port for uploading and checking test-run data and for charging the battery
• car weight approximately 80gramms
