8.2 Types of Faults
8.2.1
Control Board Faults
If a fault in the control board is suspected, check the associated cable assemblies
before changing the board for a serviceable unit. Faulty circuit boards can be
returned to Parkeon or their agents for repair.
8.2.2
Machine Dead
Possible causes:-
(a)
No power to unit.
(b)
Polyswitch fuse requires resetting.
(c)
Faulty cable assembly.
(d)
Faulty printed circuit board.
The signs that the machine is completely dead are that the displays will be blank
and there will be no display backlighting.
Check that the power to the unit (SK2) is connected and functioning.
Assuming that the previous checks have confirmed the presence of the
recommended power supply voltage, the fault must be in the ETM. The machine
has a polyswitch main fuse that resets itself automatically as soon as the power is
removed from the machine. If, after re-applying power to the machine the
original fault is no longer present, then the probability is that the fault was
transient. If the fault is still apparent, then one or more of the boards, or their
interconnecting cable assemblies, will be defective. The defective board(s) can be
isolated by removing power (to reset the fuse) and then substituting a known
serviceable board for each board in turn. The relevant cable assemblies - see
Figure 44 - can be checked for continuity using a multimeter set to ohms.
8.2.3
No Tickets Printed
Possible causes:-
(a)
Paper roll exhausted.
(b)
Paper jammed.
(c)
Printer Control board faulty.
(d)
Faulty cable assembly.
(e)
Printer motor not driving.
(f)
Printer faulty.
(g)
USB hub faulty.
The printer is controlled using the USB hub. For it to function, the wire links on the
printer control board must be inserted correctly. These are fitted by Parkeon. If
you suspect they are fitted incorrectly or have been removed, contact Parkeon for
correct configuration. The following information assumes that the ticket machine
is correctly powered up and configured correctly.
