(b) Gently ease the lever from off of its spigot. There is a spring
located inside the knob, which will fall free as the knob is
removed.
(c) When refitting the spring and lever (see Figure 34), locate the
spring inside the pre-formed web in the underside of the lever
such that the shorter end of the spring is at the bottom.

Next, fit the lever on its spigot, locating the longer end of the
spring against the smaller of the two spigots adjacent to the
lever’s locating shaft (the shorter spigot is in fact the protruding
end of the spring pin - see
Removing the Lower Paper Guide
later, the longer spigot is the spring locking spigot). Turn the
lever to check that it is under slight tension. If the lever is not
tensioned, check that the end of the spring is against the correct
face of the smaller spigot (spring pin shaft).
Once the spring is correctly located, ease the lever partly off its
shaft so that it can clear the spring locking spigot and then turn
the lever anti-clockwise (under tension) to allow the web
formation on the underside of the lever to locate past the
locking spigot. As soon as this occurs, push the lever fully onto
the shaft.
