The board regulates the 3.3v and 5v supplies derived from the 24v
supply (J1). The main functions of the board are to process smart
card, GPS and GPRS data and interface with the colour LCD display
(touchscreen, if fitted) and keyboard. The board provides a speaker
output. The SD memory card enables the manual backing up of data.
In the event of a power failure the rechargeable lithium backup
battery (marked BT1 on the control board) maintains power to the
real time clock. The console control board also contains two Secure
Access Module sockets labelled SAM1 and SAM2. The SAM sockets are
used for external encryption of devices for specific applications such
as ITSO or Calypso where it is required to perform secure smart card
financial transactions.

The iMX53 Processor PCB
The iMX53 Processor board uses a Freescale i.MX53 processor. The
internal clock runs at 1GHz utilising a 32kHz crystal oscillator. The
board contains the following circuitry: Flash memory, SDRAM, FRAM,
Serial Static RAM, sound channel, Ethernet and real time clock, four
serial channels, three I

C channels, three SPI ports and three SDIO.

This board is plugged directly into the console control PCB (SK1 and
SK2).

Console Serial Number PCB
This board, fitted in the console rear moulding, provides a means of
electronically providing a serial number for the ETM. This serial
number is included in any data that is transferred via PL4 on the
console control board.

Colour LCD Display PCB
The display is a non-repairable item whose electronics are supplied as
an integral part of the display assembly. The display is physically
mounted onto the keyboard PCB and plugs into PL6 of the keyboard
PCB.
