Reinstalling the 
desktop software

If you have problems synchronizing using 
ActiveSync

®

 desktop software, you may 

need to reinstall the software.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Make sure your 

computer profile includes administrator 
rights to install software. In large 
organizations, these are usually granted 
by the system administrator.

Shut down your computer, and then 
turn it on again.

Remove Microsoft ActiveSync if it is on 
your computer.

Quit any active applications, including 
virus scanners and Internet security

instructions.

You must install the version of 
ActiveSync desktop software that came 
with your smartphone on the

Performing a soft reset

Performing a soft reset is similar to 
restarting a computer. If your smartphone 
is not responding or you have trouble 
synchronizing with your computer, a soft
