SensorHand Speed
Ottobock | 31
9.6 Programm 6:
DMC plus Sensor can be switched off
Purple coding plug
Control with 2 electrodes
This control mode corresponds to program 1; the SUVA-Sensor as well as the FlexiGrip can be
temporarily deactivated.
9.6.1 Switching the SUVASensor and the FlexiGrip Function On and Off
In order to grasp soft and yielding objects such as soft foamed plastics you can manually de-
activate the SUVA-Sensor. Open the SensorHand Speed as far as it will go and keep it open
by muscle signal. Simultaneously apply some pressure to the SUVA-Sensor (press to a hard
object). A short vibrating signal will confirm the switch-off. In order to switch the SUVA-Sensor
on, follow the same procedure. Two short vibrating signals confirm the activation of the SUVA-
Sensor*.
Note
:
Please note that with a switched-off SUVA-Sensorik the grip force will not be
automatically adjusted adn that grasped objects may slip from the hand.
After inserting a battery, vibrating signals inform the amputee about the current mode:
single vibration
Sensor is switched off
two vibrations
Sensor is switched on
10 Handling the batteries
Only a fully charged battery should be used to operate the SensorHand Speed. Always keep
a charged, back-up battery available as a replacement. An intelligent “battery manager” alerts
the patient to low voltage conditions: The hand will become slower and the gripping force will
decrease. At the same time the battery is protected against harmful total discharge.
We recommend operating the SensorHand Speed with the EnergyPack (757B20) to fully profit
for a long time from the full capability.
With restricted capacity, the SensorHand Speed can optionally be operated with the En-
ergyPack (757B21), the X-ChangePack (757B15), or the MyoEnergy Integral (757B25=*,
757B35=*).
For detailed instructions on how to handle the batteries, please refer to the instructions for use
enclosed with the batteries.
Attention
:
As soon as the SensorHand Speed recognises a fully charged EnergyPack (757B20,
757B21) or MyoEnergy Integral (757B25=*, 757B35=*), it automatically switches to
Li-Ion battery technology. Once this has happened, only this technology should be
used to operate the system. If an X-ChangePack (757B15) is employed after the con-
trol has switched to Li-Ion battery technology, the battery can not be used to its full
capacity. The MyoSelect (757T13) can be used, however, to reset the SensorHand
Speed control for use with X-ChangePack.
For operational security and reliability, only 757B20, 757B21, 757B25=*, 757B35=*
or 757B15 Batteries are to be used.
Upon delivery the SensorHand Speed is (factory default) set for NiMH batteries.
