12.1.2 Changing the acoustic filter disc
Caution:
If the calibration procedure fails and the message "Probe Error!" is
displayed, the acoustic filter of the probe may be damaged or
blocked.
1. If this is the case, replace the filter disc. To do so, remove the
probe tip (see above).
2. Use the cleaning wire (C) to take out the acoustic filter disc (D)
from the probe tip and insert a new disc.
12.1.3 Eartips
Eartips are disposable, but can be reused if autoclaved according to
local regulations.
Disposable articles (such as eartips and cleaning pins) should be dis-
posed of according to local regulations.
12.1.4 Cleaning and disinfecting procedures
You should always comply with local hygienic standards for disin-
fection and sterilization.
Sterilization of the probe tip is required after use in infected ear ca-
nals.
Regular cleaning
• Use a wet tissue for regular surface cleaning.
• Immerse the probe tip for 5-10 minutes in a lukewarm, mild
soap water solution.
Disinfecting
Immerse the probe tip in a bath of chemical disinfectant ethanol (70-
80%), propanol (70-80%) or aldehydes (2-4%).
Sterilization
Use autoclaving in accordance with the national standards for steam
or vapour sterilization with an exposure time of up to 45 minutes at
a maximum temperature of 150°C.
Eartips up to 45 minutes at a maximum temperature of 130°C.
It is recommended that you do not exceed 50 sterilization cycles for
each item.
