"crossed" cable and one for a possible connection through the local network

).   

 
For more details on how to set up the external PC (in the first case) or change the 
local configuration (in the second) refer, respectively, to Sections §9.4 or §9.5.

In the case of direct connection, the variation of the parameters in figure 7-13  also 
implies a modification of the similar configuration on the external PC. When 
connecting to a local network you must contact the network administrator to properly 
modify local settings TCP/IP. 
Unless these operations are not carried out by staff with a specific training on your 
PC or LAN configuration, you should not change the values on this page.
