9.10 TOOL TIPS AND SCREENS OF THE KERATRON™ SCOUT
SOFTWARE
9.10.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter only describes the basic operation. To get a more complete and
updated description of the software functions, refer to the HELP menu (its command
or button "?" on the menu bar).
9.10.2 TRANSFER OF AN IMAGE FROM KERATRON™ NOVA
Start from the acquisition menu "from Keratron/Keratron Wave/Keratron Nova" or the
icon on the toolbar Scout software: "Acquire images Keratron/Wave/Nova", and wait
for the Keratron™ Nova to start sending data.
Quality examinations which do not have a satisfactory quality, are clearly moved or
taken while the patient was winking can be removed.
In case the operator is using the device for the first use, it is recommended to take 6-
8 photos of the same eye and check the repeatability with the "Acquire" menu
(Capture), "
Repeatability Check
" until a satisfactory result is obtained.
As standard procedure, it is recommended to take 3-4 pictures for each eye to
control the repeatability and then save the best (or the best two)
9.10.3 HOW TO PROCESS, SAVE AND PRINT IMAGES
After the acquisition and transfer of images, you can process them by double clicking
on each image provided that it has not already been processed in the instrument. It
is advisable to process them all using the "Process All" menu (Modify all) or its icon.
To draw a topographic image means analysing the reflections of circular mires
present on the cornea in order to obtain a topographic map.
The centring and the tracking of the rings become clear in the photograph processing
window. Here you can check how and where, in the map, the photograph was taken
in a timely manner, without artefacts; and furthermore, it is possible to intervene to
adjust the processing conditions and/or eliminate trackings having an insufficient
quality.
