5.3.3 RECOMMENDED DISTANCE OF SEPARATION BETWEEN PORTABLE
AND MOBILE RADIO COMMUNICATION DEVICES AND THE KERATRON
®
NOVA DEVICE
The Keratron™ Nova is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which
radiated RF disturbances are under control. The client or the Keratron™ Nova operator can
help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance between
portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitters) and the Keratron™ Nova
as recommended below, in relation to the maximum output power of the radio
communication devices.

For transmitters specified for a maximum output power not detailed above, the
recommended distance of separation
d
in metres (m) can be calculated using the
equation applicable to the transmitter's frequency, where
P
is the transmitter's
nominal maximum output power in Watts (W) according to the manufacturer of the
transmitter.
NOTES:
Note 1- At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the highest frequency is applied.
Note 2-These guidelines may not apply in all situations. The electromagnetic
propagation is influenced by the absorption and reflection of structures, objects and
persons.
