Linking to OMRON Controllers
6.1
OMRON Host-Link
6.1.1
General Information
TesiMod operating terminals can be conveniently connected to all controllers that
support the OMRON Host-Link protocol. The OMRON Host-Link protocol allows
communication between one operating terminal and up to 32 controllers.
6.1.1.1
Hardware
The interface channel SER1 RS232 is used to connect the operating terminals to a
OMRON controller.
6.1.1.2
Telegram Mode
The operating terminal always has a client functionality which means that data
transfers are always initiated by the terminal.
6.1.1.3
Point-to-Point Connection
RS232 interfaces allow only point-to-point connections.
Therefore the operating terminals can be set to Single-Mode or Multiple-Mode. The
selected mode must be equal to the mode set for the controller.
Most of the OMRON controllers are used with Multiple-Mode and cannot be ad-
justed
6.1.1.4
Multiple Point Connection
In the telegram mode Multiple-Mode the terminal can be connected to at least 32
controllers using multiple point connection.
In this case the terminal must be connected via the communication module NT-
AL001 with the RS422-Bus.
A direct connection with the RS485 interface of SER2 of the terminals is not permis-
sible due to a lack of terminator possibilities.
6.1.2
Protocol Parameters
6.1.2.1
Parameters of SER1
Parameters that can be defined for the communication interface SER1 are as fol-
lows:
Baud rate:
300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200
Data bits:
7, 8
Parity:
even, odd
Stop bits:
1, 2
Handshake:
no handshake
Default values in the programming software are in bold print.
